July new book and a great launch

July started with a blast for me with the book launch for my new book Million Dollar Mates. It was held at the Mayfair hotel in London and was a very swanky affair indeed. Loads of people came including press and friends and a jolly time was had by all (see photos). My publishers Simon and Schuster had really put a lot into it and I loved the love heart packets of sweets they had made specially with Million Dollar Mates and my name on it. I’ll keep those forever.

The next day it was up to Yorkshire for a wedding then off on a book tour for a week. It started in Preston with the lovely ladies Sue and Elaine from the Silverdell bookshop. Next was Liverpool with Angela and Tony from Pritchard books, then onto Bramhall with Sue and Andrew from Simply books. After a day in local schools, they held a pamper party at their shop. It was full to the walls and I got a chance to chat with readers as they had their nails done and enjoyed chocolate chip cookies and lemonade. Friday was London with Jon from the Newham bookshop then Friday back home to Bath where I visited Hatfield Girls school at the bottom of the hill.

And then phew, a weekend at home with friends, Steve my husband and cats. The cats were all lined up on the doorstep when I got back as if to say, where do you think you’ve been?

Apart from that, voting has started for the Queen of teen. Go to www.queenofteen.co.uk if you’d like to vote for your favourite author. Ten lucky voters will be invited to the ceremony in September where they will meet all the authors on the shortlist. Last year, everyone wore pink, even the tent it was held in was pink!

This week, it’s business as usual and back to my computer where I am working on the outline for book three in the Million Dollar Mates series. So, better crack on…

Bye for now
