August into September

August. Well it was a bit of wash-out wasn’t it? Least it was here in Bath. My office is right at the top of the house and all I’ve been able to see out the window is mist and rain. Even all the cats came back in to find a dry cosy spot to sleep. We’ve had a ton of visitors coming to see where we live now which has been lovely and it gave us a chance to explore the countryside around with them. I’m slowly getting to know the area and lovely villages like Freshford and Limpley Stoke and Avoncliff. It’s probably a good job it’s been raining so much as I’d be out walking and exploring if the sun was shining and the latest book (Catwalk Queen)  wouldn’t be written. We had two party invites this month and amazingly, the rain stopped for both of them. One was my friend’s Lily’s birthday and she had a Summer of Love party and everyone went dressed as hippies (see photo of me and my pal Carol). Some of my friends and I sang Lily a Bob Dylan song and changed the words. I fear we were all totally out of key but hopefully no-one noticed too much! The other party was for my parents 60th wedding anniversary. 60 years is diamond. Quite an achievement and all the family gathered together at their house in Southport. On the Monday after, my dad and I travelled to Manchester to talk on GLR radio as his new book is out this month, it’s called Tommy’s World and my new book was out last month,  Million Dollar Mates. I don’t think either of us ever dreamt we’d end up writing or doing radio programs together. He wrote his first book at the age of 70 and has had seven bestsellers since – he’s a good example of it’s never too late. Workwise, I’ve started book three in the Million Dollar Mates series. It will be called Catwalk Queen – more about that in later blogs as I don’t want to give too much of the plot away at this stage. And so, the schools will be back next week, already there’s a chill in the air in the evening, and off we’ll go into the autumn. The Queen of Teen party ( will be held on September 10th to crown whoever’s won this year.  I’ll post some photos of the ceremony on my website, Bye for now Cathy X
